Ooh ooh, this one looks good. Joo Ji-hoon (Mask) and Jin Se-yeon (Grand Prince) will be reuniting in upcoming fantasy and mystery MBC drama ‘Item.’ The two formerly acted together back in 2012 in Korean drama ‘Five Fingers’ and will be appearing in another drama again soon.
According to Hancinema, the drama, “which is based on a webtoon of the same name, is a mystery fantasy drama about a profiler and a prosecutor who uncover a conspiracy and secrets surrounding objects with special powers.” The profiler will be played by Jin Se-yeon while Joo Ji-hoon will be portraying the prosecutor.
My last (and first) ever drama I’ve watched with Joo Ji-hoon would be the classic ‘Goong’ or ‘Princess Hours.’ I just remember – as a young child – falling for him and his character and genuinely enjoying the drama (of course, I was very young back then so I didn’t know much about what I was watching). I haven’t been as up to date with Joo Ji-hoon recently, but I have been watching random movies with him in it including ‘Asura: The City of Madness’ as well as the two parts to ‘Along with the Gods.’ I thought he did great in ‘Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days’ as his character from the past (his portrayal as the Grim Reaper was decent, but he was so good as the serious and charismatic White Wildcat). While he might not be one of my top favorite actors, there’s no denying that he’s a talented actor with charisma and presence.
Jin Se-yeon is also an actress that I generally like. I know she’s not so popular for her acting and has received criticism for it throughout her career, but I still generally have a positive opinion of her. It’ll be interesting to see the two together again after 6 years when they first appeared in ‘Five Fingers’ together. It’ll also be interesting for Joo Ji-hoon as he has another drama called ‘Kingdom’ coming out in 2019. Though it’s only six episodes long, it seems like we’ll be seeing plenty of Joo Ji-hoon in the first few months of 2019 which I’m definitely not complaining about.
‘Item’ will be based on a webtoon of the same name, but will also be written by Jung Yi-do whose other work includes ‘Save Me’ (which doesn’t come as a surprise). Directing the drama will be Kim Sung-wook. Rounding out the cast is Kim Kang-woo (which is super awesome) as well as Kim Yuri. ‘Item’ plans to air in February 2019.
