Suzy (Vagabond) and Nam Joo-hyuk (The Light in Your Eyes) will be making a really pretty couple in their new drama ‘Startup’, but me? I’m here for the second leads to the drama.
Kim Sun-ho (Catch the Ghost) and Kang Han-na (Designated Survivor: 60 Days) will be joining the two actors for the drama which is “set in South Korea’s fictional Silicon Valley, called Sandbox, and tells the story of people in the world of startup companies.“
Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk’s names are already big enough to pull and lure viewers in, but I wasn’t completely hooked until I saw Kim Sun-ho and Kang Han-na’s names. I became a fan of Kim Sun-ho’s after first watching him in ‘The Strongest Deliveryman’ and then later on in ‘You Drive Me Crazy!‘ and then I fell in love with him during ‘100 Days My Prince.’ Then I went on to watch him in ‘Welcome to Waikiki’ Season 2 and yeah.. there’s been plenty of reasons to be a fan of his. Starting from ‘The Strongest Deliveryman’, Kim Sun-ho was an actor that I looked out for and I was super excited when he was casted for ‘100 Days My Prince.’
While I haven’t watched all of his dramas (thanks but no thanks ‘Two Cops’ and ‘Catch the Ghost’), I’m definitely looking forward to watch ‘Startup’ because 1) it’s been a while since I’ve seen him in something and 2) there’s also Kang Han-na. Kang Han-na is another actor who I came to liking and supporting after watching her in ‘Moon Lovers.’ That was my first and really only exposure to her in the K-drama world while she’s a familiar guest for my favorite Korean variety show ‘Running Man’ which is how I came around to warming up to her. Just like Kim Sun-ho, I was also super excited when I saw that she was casted for ‘Startup’ and yet I was also a bit heartbroken because I wished she had been casted as the lead instead (PLEASE, it’s about time she gets her own 16-episode drama!).
I’ve seen Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk in dramas before and I don’t think they’re as terrible as others might think they are. Nam Joo-hyuk was good in ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo’ and Suzy has her moments where she’s tolerable. I’m gonna give this drama a chance mainly for our second leads so I hope it turns out better than I expect and hopefully it’ll be a drama where I watch until the very end.
Directing the drama will be Oh Choong-hwan who’s worked with Suzy in ‘While You Were Sleeping’ and whose last project was ‘Hotel Del Luna.’ Meanwhile, penning the drama is Park Hye-ryun who also worked with Oh and Suzy on ‘While You Were Sleeping.’ ‘Startup’ is scheduled to air on tvN on October 10 after ‘Stranger 2.’
