My Perfect Stranger Episode 13: Time Flies, Love Remains

Principal Yoon purchases a new watch for his future grandson and includes a special message on the back of the watch. He was inspired to purchase the watch after a special dream that he had. And it is this special watch that Hae-joon is sporting as he’s getting arrested by Detective Baek who was found at the murder scene of Beom-ryong. Hae-joon and Yoon-young are permitted a few minutes alone together to discuss their next steps. Hae-joon warns Yoon-young to stay with her mother at the hospital. He also brings up the possibility of Yoon-young driving the red time-traveling car back to 2021 without him but she refuses. She won’t leave him and she’s confident that she’ll reunite with him back at their house.
Hae-joon is brought to the police station so any suspicions of Min-soo are ultimately diminished. When Yoon-young arrives at the hospital where Soon-ae is admitted, she discovers Hee-seob sitting outside alone in the hallway crying. Grandpa is angry that his second daughter was targeted by the culprit and he storms out of the room. Inside, Grandma, Uncle Oh-bok, and a police detective study the piece of note found inside a Bong Bong Teahouse box located inside of Soon-ae’s pocket. It reads the same as all the other notes: “women who read are dangerous.” The police detective reports the discovery to Detective Baek and Yoon-young runs to meet with Mi-sook. Since Mi-sook was the only person who saw the face of the culprit, she could come forward and say something. Yoon-young confronts Mi-sook about the situation and updates her on Beom-ryong’s death as well as Hae-joon’s arrest. If she had just reported the true culprit, none of this would have happened. Now her plan is also ruined since Hae-joon is assumed to be the culprit and Min-soo was released. Mi-sook is shocked at the news but she refuses to mention anything to Yoon-young.
Detective Baek interrogates Hae-joon at the police station and he assumes he’s on to something. He’s curious as to what Hae-joon’s involvement and whereabouts with the deaths in the serial murder case were. He finds it suspicious that Hae-joon was there at all three murder scenes so Hae-joon explains his side of the story to Detective Baek and he also eliminates any potential of Beom-ryong being the culprit. Detective Baek’s suspicions of Hae-joon run high.
Yoon-young sits next to her mother in her hospital room and breaks down into tears seeing her unconscious. When Soon-ae’s parents return to the hospital, they discover Hee-seob sitting outside in the hallway and they take him out for some dinner. Hee-seob doesn’t have an appetite but Grandma and Grandpa encourage him to eat. They know how much Hee-seob went through for Soon-ae and how much the young man cares about their daughter. Aww, this scene was definitely touching!
Detective Baek digs deeper into Hae-joon’s background and life and he confronts the teacher secretly in a room at the police station. Hae-joon’s ID, resume, and teaching certificate? They’re all fake. Who exactly is Hae-joon and what is he doing here? So Hae-joon finally admits that he has something to show Detective Baek. If Detective Baek wants the truth, he’ll get the truth. But there’s also someone else who should know about the news: Principal Yoon.

So Detective Baek and Principal Yoon visit Hae-joon’s house and are invited to Hae-joon’s office where he houses all his documents, notes, and reports on the serial murder case. There’s clues and hints pointing to the fact that Hae-joon is from the future and Hae-joon even shares this news with both men himself. However, the two aren’t exactly convinced. It’s not until Principal Yoon spots Hae-joon’s watch that he slowly begins to believe him. It’s the same watch that he purchased for his future grandson with the unique message on the back. How could he not recognize the watch that he bought? Plus, it all makes sense now why Principal Yoon always felt this special connection to Hae-joon. So Principal Yoon buys into Hae-joon’s information that he’s from the future and what his reasoning for traveling back in time are. Detective Baek? Not so much.
Soon-ae fortunately wakes up and she explains her story to the police detectives as well as her family. She didn’t catch the face of the culprit but she explains that Hae-joon couldn’t have been the culprit because he was the one who saved her. With the truth revealed, Yoon-young heads home to reunite with Hae-joon and she gives him a huge warm hug upon seeing him again (EEEEK!). But the sweet moment doesn’t last for too long because Detective Baek and Principal Yoon are still at Hae-joon’s house. Thankfully, they already know everything so they don’t freak out seeing the two hug, haha. With Soon-ae’s information, any suspicion of Hae-joon is diminished. But Detective Baek is still going to keep an eye on Hae-joon just in case. He also finally greets Yoon-young now that he knows she’s the daughter of his nephew, Hee-seob. It is also through Yoon-young that he learned that he and Hee-seob eventually lost contact with each other.
When Hae-joon and Yoon-young return home that night, they share another intimate moment with each other. They express their care for each other and they’re both relieved to be reunited. They vow to take care of each other as well as to catch the culprit. Soon enough, Detective Baek will eventually come around to trust them and work with them. So Hae-joon puts Detective Baek to the test through a series of house visits. Hae-joon is from the future so he knows the outcomes of certain sporting events or newspapers. But Hae-joon finally has had enough and he proposes that he and Detective Baek just work together. Detective Baek should trust him. So the police detective slowly comes around to it. They discuss Mi-sook’s motive for lying and framing her brother for the murders. If they work together to catch the culprit, this could change both of their lives. And so the alliance is formed.
Principal Yoon steals Hae-joon for a few hours to have some dinner with him. Things are a little awkward but the grandpa and grandson chat about the watch with the special message. Principal Yoon had hoped that the watch would serve as a reminder of his unconditional love for his grandson. It’s quite interesting how his relationship with Hae-joon ended up turning out in the end. Since Hae-joon is from the future, Principal Yoon’s curious about Yeon-woo’s marriage and he learns from Hae-joon that Yeon-woo ended up marrying Chung-Ah, the owner of Bong Bong Teahouse. Principal Yoon’s had a little too much to drink from his dinner with Hae-joon and he’s determined to visit her. But Hae-joon drops his grandpa off at grandpa’s house and leaves.
Speaking of Bong Bong Teahouse, Hae-joon stops by the teahouse after dropping his grandpa off at home. The place is empty and there’s no one else around except for Chung-Ah so she takes the opportunity to chat with Hae-joon. She announces her decision to close the teahouse and to leave the village. No one else except for Hae-joon knows but Chung-Ah doesn’t dive into details as to why she’s leaving. That part of the news is kept a secret. When Hae-joon returns to the car garage, he finds his father fixing the red car. But their interaction doesn’t last for long when Yeon-woo leaves to go visit his girlfriend. Hmm.

The next day, a funeral for Beom-ryong is held. Both Yeon-woo and Hae-joon attend the funeral and Hae-joon takes the time to check in with his dad about last night. Yeon-woo claims that everything went well with his girlfriend and that things were fine as usual. Hmm. Something is definitely up. After the funeral, Hae-joon stops by the hospital to visit Soon-ae. Yoon-young is also there and he checks in with his student. Their homeroom teacher, Mr. Park, also came by earlier with a group of students to drop off gifts to Soon-ae. There’s one gift in particular that stands out to Hae-joon and he approaches the fruit basket gift only to find a box of matches from Bong Bong Teahouse nearby. And when he opens the box, he discovers a note that reads, “I’m glad you regained consciousness. I’ll see you again.” Hae-joon and Yoon-young are terrified at the thought of the culprit stopping by to visit Soon-ae. Who exactly was it?
