Today I received the chance to watch ‘King of High School Life Conduct’ starring Seo In Guk and Lee Ha Na and I just have to say that I am in love with it. It is an amazing and wonderful drama. I love it so much I’m thinking of recapping it because the drama so far is really delivering in every aspect, including cinematography, casting, music, and so much more.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the plot, Seo In Guk plays a high school student and popular hockey player Lee Min Suk who has to act as his brother Lee Hyung Suk because his older brother has suddenly disappeared. Lee Min Suk then has to balance the life of a star hockey player and a director at the same company that his brother was supposed to work at if not for his disappearance. At this company, Lee Min Suk meets Jung Soo Young, played by Lee Ha Na and along with Soo Young’s young sister Jung Yoo Ah (played by newbie Lee Yul Eum) and Director Yoo (played by Lee Soo Hyuk), all 4 characters will embark on an interesting journey with one another.
I actually did not care for any of this drama’s teaser promotions at first because I wasn’t a big fan of the cast, but when I found out that Lee Soo Hyuk was casted, I grew a bit excited to be honest. I really enjoyed him in ‘Shark’ so I thought that I should watch this drama for him too. Although I originally watched this drama for Lee Soo Hyuk, I really like ‘King of High School’ for everything else that it consists of. The drama is just hilarious all around I love it so much. I also love how it’s relatable. The plot is kind of cliche, but at the end of the day, our female lead Jung Soo Young is a normal lady fighting through each day to support her and her younger sister, our male lead Lee Min Suk is a regular high school student who is passionate in hockey, and our Director Yoo is determined to become the best Director there is while trying to fix his awkward and rough relationship with his father. The one thing that I can do without with this drama is Jung Soo Young’s younger sister Yoo Ah. She plays Seo In Guk’s stalker and biggest fan and although I wouldn’t rule out her character as someone that doesn’t exist (because there are crazy fans like her in this world), I don’t think she contributes much to the plot. She can be quite annoying as well, lol. I just want to watch Lee Min Suk try to find his balance as a high school student and director at a major company, not this young high school girl follow her idol’s every move (it gets annoying after a while). Nonetheless, the drama is really funny and I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Prior to watching this drama, I was familiar with who Seo In Guk, Lee Yul Eum, and Lee Soo Hyuk was, but I had never heard or seen our female lead Lee Ha Na before. This is actually my first time watching anything from her so I don’t really have an impression or opinion about her, but I do think she’s doing great so far in ‘King of High School.’ She plays a witty, courageous, and crazy character who’s just trying to support her and her younger sister at the end of the day. I also like how she doesn’t try to impress Lee Hyung Suk / Lee Min Suk unlike the other ladies at the company she works with. She minds her own business, but when someone tells her to do something for them, she does it willingly without complaining. I really appreciate the fact that she’s not annoying. Lol.
There were a few scenes in ‘King of High School’ that I really enjoyed, but there was a particular scene in episode 2 that gave me the butterflies and feels I haven’t felt about a Korean drama in the longest time. I kind of don’t want to go into too much details about it yet, but let’s just say that it had to do something with Lee Min Suk stalking looking out for uri Soo Young. OMG. JUST THINKING ABOUT IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY AND GUSHY AND SHY. The music playing during that scene went so well with it too that scene was just pure perfection. I mean, I was blushing when I was watching that scene! When I finished watching episode 2, I had to go back to watch that scene. Kekeke. My other favorite scene would be in episode one when our female lead got rejected by Director Yoo. Her reaction afterwards and the aftereffect she suffered from the rejection really spoke to me, because I’ve got my heart broken plenty of times and what Soo Young did in the drama is something similar I would wanna do (but I can’t, because I’m not even old enough to drink). If you watched episode one, you would understand what I’m talking about right now. Haha.
Overall, I’m really enjoying ‘King of High School.’ I didn’t have too many expectations going into it, but I’m super impressed with how smooth and easy-going this drama turned out to be. It’s funny and not hard to watch. It’s also very easy on the eyes, haha. I recommend you guys watch it if you guys haven’t yet. Give it a try like how I did and tell me what you think about it! 😀
