Lee Jun-Ki and Moon Chae-Won reunite in upcoming tvN drama ‘Flower of Evil’

Now THIS is the reunion that I’ve been waiting for. After three years, actors Lee Jun-ki and Moon Chae-won will be reuniting in another drama titled ‘Flower of Evil.’ The two first appeared in the Korean adaption of American TV show ‘Criminal Minds‘ back in 2017. I had written reviews about the drama during its airing, but ultimately dropped the show because of how inefficient, frustrating, and dull the show was. It didn’t quite live up to the potential that it could have been, especially with such a powerful and talented cast. I also noted in my review how much chemistry Lee Jun-ki and Moon Chae-won had with each other and how I would love to see the two capitalize upon that chemistry in another drama together. It’s as if the K-drama lords heard my prayers for the two will be appearing in another drama together and, even better, will be playing a married couple. Woo hoo!

According to Viki, ‘Flower of Evil’ will center around Lee Jun-ki who plays “Baek Hee-sung, a hard-working craftsman and an exemplary example of what a husband should be. However, his perfect exterior hides some very dark secrets he would rather his detective wife, Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae Won), never learn. Unfortunately, secrets have a way of coming out and as a hard-hitting homicide detective, it’s Cha Ji Won’s job to uncover as many secrets as she can, in her never-ending quest for the truth. When Ji Won takes on a particularly cruel case, she starts down a dark path that could crumble the very foundations of her happy life. Determined to bring this evil psychopath to justice she dives ever deeper into this case, only to find that the criminal she’s been chasing may have been standing next to her all along.”

Oof, just based on the premise, it seems as if this drama could be enticing, intriguing, and action-packed if done right (but also heart-breaking at the same time). I’m still traumatized from ‘Criminal Minds’ and all the things that went wrong with the show so I really hope ‘Flower of Evil’ will be better (even if by a tad bit please). I love Lee Jun-ki and Moon Chae-won together too much and I would hate to have to sit through another frustrating drama just to watch them together. Seeing the two back in another show has been a dream come true for me and I’m really excited for this one. I actually heard about the news a while back when it was first announced, but just never got around to making a post about it. Fast forward a weeks later and I’m still gushing and excited over the news. I really cannot wait to see these two actors back on my screen together.

Individually, it’s been a while since I’ve seen Lee Jun-ki in any of his works. I have a habit of watching the first few episodes of his dramas, but then unfortunately dropping them because even he isn’t enough to get me to stay. I last watched Moon Chae-won in ‘Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter‘ which wasn’t the best drama or the best drama with the best editing which was such a shame because of the cast in that drama (I still can’t believe I actually finished recapping that show on my blog. It’s amazing the level of patience I had back then and the loyalty I had to our leads in that drama! Lol). I love Moon Chae-won and Lee Jun-ki, but I haven’t been all that entirely impressed with their most recent works. Hopefully ‘Flower of Evil’ will change that for me. The two actors are already enough of a reason for me to tune in to the premiere, but I hope the execution and directing of the drama will be another reason I stay.

‘Flower of Evil’ airs on tvN on July 22, 2020. Directing the drama is Kim Cheol-kyu whose other works include ‘On the Way to the Airport’ and ‘Chicago Typewriter’ while the writer of the series is Yoo Jung-hee whose former show include ‘Naked Fireman.’
