*pouting face* I’m such a sucker for youth/coming-of-age dramas and this one looks like the complete epitome of a youth drama. I’m all here for it T_T
Park Bo-gum will be enlisting for his mandatory military service as a cultural promotion solder for the navy on August 31, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get to ever see him during his enlistment. Thankfully, we’ll be well fed with the popular actor’s new and upcoming drama ‘Record of Youth’ that will air on September 7. ‘Record of Youth’ stars Park Bo-gum and Park So-dam and will center around “the lives of three people in today’s fashion industry.” The drama will depict “the current generation where the “spoon” you’re born with determines your life’s path. While dreams are a luxury not everyone can afford, their youthful passion spurs them on to make them come true.” Park Bo-gum plays Sa Hye-joon, a popular model who aspires to become a successful actor.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE youth/coming-of-age/romance dramas so I’m already loving the premise of the show and I’m looking forward to the drama even more after watching the teasers. So far, Park Bo-gum seems to be selling it as the hard-working, boy-next-door type of character who aspires to achieve even greater success with an acting career. Just everything about the teaser looked beautiful and felt inspiring, but it also seems like it’s going to be a heart-breaking watch at the same time. Park Bo-gum’s character is going to endure many hardships, struggles, and challenges in life, but the beauty of it all is that we will get to witness all of that and watch him fight for his dreams and goals in life. I’m also excited to watch the journey for the other characters in the drama as well which includes Park So-dam’s (Parasite) and Byun Woo-seok’s (Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency) characters. I expect to maybe shed a few tears along the way, but smiles, joy, and laughter shall prevail in the end.

‘Record of Youth’ is directed by Ahn Gil-ho whose other notable work include ‘Memories of the Alhambra’ (which I’ll admit — even if it wasn’t the best drama per se, the drama was pretty to look at). Penning the drama is Ha Myung-hee whose other works include ‘Temperature of Love’ and ‘Doctors.’ ‘Record of Youth’ is slated to air on September 7 on tvN and will also be available via Netflix.
