YAAAAAAAAAS!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!
Ok ok, I get it. My reaction might be too over the top, but like, you don’t get it. You cast my most favorite Korean actress, Park Bo-young, with one of my favorite Korean actors, Park Seo-joon, of course I’m going to scream at the top of my lungs!
We’ll be seeing Park Bo-young and Park Seo-joon on the big screen together in upcoming disaster movie ‘Concrete Utopia’ which Lee Byung-hun will also be starring in. The film will center around “those who survived in a city that went to ruins after a massive earthquake destroyed all the concrete.” Lee Byung Hun will play Young Tak, a “leader who works to protect Hwang Goong Apartment from outsiders. Park Seo Joon will play Min Sung, a salaryman who gets chosen to assist Young Tak and becomes increasingly bold as he encounters crises.” Meanwhile, “Park Bo Young has been cast as Min Sung’s wife and former nurse Myung Hwa, a warm character who cares for those who are hurt in dangerous situations.”
First of all, I’m beyond excited and elated for I love my Park Bo-young and I really missed her during her break. Her last drama ‘Abyss’ wasn’t quite the right show for me (for many different reasons) and I couldn’t bring myself to finish it despite how much I love her. There were talks of Park Bo-young starring in a new drama, but no details for that has been confirmed just yet so we’re still waiting for news. Thankfully, the casting news to this movie came out and I was already interested the moment I heard that my Park Bo-young was going to be in the movie. Combine that with the fact that she’ll be acting alongside Park Seo-joon and I couldn’t be happier. I love them both individually so I’m super stoked to see them act together (and as a married couple on top of that!).
Although Park Bo-young has made her comebacks in dramas like ‘Strong Woman Do Bong-soon’ and ‘Abyss’, it’s nice to also see her on the big screen. One of my biggest wishes is to still see her in another project with Song Joong-ki who I thought she had great chemistry with after watching their classic movie ‘A Werewolf Boy’ (2012). It’s also reassuring and nice to see her act alongside other notable actors like Lee Byung-hun and Park Seo-joon. Park Bo-young definitely has the acting chops as well and I hope this movie will give her the opportunity to showcase those skills. It also seems as if her move into BH Entertainment has been of help for her and I hope she will receive many more movie opportunities in the future.

‘Concrete Utopia’ is based off the webcomic and is planned to begin production in early 2021. Directing the movie is Uhm Tae-hwa, the same director who worked on ‘Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned’ (which I have to admit was a gorgeous and beautiful movie). 2020 has been a crazy and wild roller coaster ride for so many reasons so this is just one more reason for me to wait for 2020 to be over and for 2021 to get here faster 🙂
