This week’s episodes of “Good Boy” were so fun! Things picked up with the formation of our Olympic Avengers team and we finally got to see them in action with their investigation behind Ju-yeong. I was afraid that episode 3 was a little slow because there wasn’t a whole lot going on, but episode 4 swooped in and kicked some butt! Our team of 5 finally came together and rolled up their sleeves and got some work done.
I just loved seeing our team put their athletic skills to use as seen in the fight scene in episode 5. Whether it was Han-na with her gun or Dong-ju with his boxing skills or fencer Jong-hyeon with his baton, it’s so entertaining and fun to watch the former Olympic medalists translate the skills and talent in their respective sport over to their current positions as police officers. I can’t help but just marvel at how cool they all look, especially when they’re fighting against the bad guys. Another really great thing about this week’s episodes was the comedy and humor. Episode 4 had just the right amount of humor at the right level; there wasn’t too much or too little and it didn’t feel over-exaggerated. The comedy hit all the right spots and moments, whether that was Dong-ju teasing Jong-hyeon or Man-sik once again being the silly team leader. There were a couple of moments where I literally laughed out loud and clapped like a seal while watching episode 4 which made for a great combination with all the smiling I was doing over the action scenes. I can’t emphasize this enough but episode 4 was a really fun episode.
Even the love triangle between Dong-ju, Han-na, and Jong-hyeon didn’t feel forced, which was a good sign. The drama knew how to tease it just enough and use it for comedic purposes without overdoing it too much. The love triangle is sort of an ongoing joke within the drama but it isn’t the primary focus so it’s fun when it pops up here and there throughout the episodes. It makes the friendly rivalry between Dong-ju and Jong-hyeon even funnier but it also makes the moments when they work together as a pair to go after Ju-yeong even greater. Speaking of Han-na and Dong-ju, I sort of liked the romantic development in their relationship in episode 3. They knew what the other person’s concern and struggle was (Dong-ju processing the death of Gyeong-il and Han-na stressing out over her mom) and Dong-ju was there for Han-na to catch her (literally). I do wonder if we’re going to learn a little bit more about Jae-hong. So far, he seems to be the one who’s just sort of there and we don’t know a whole lot about him other than that he has a kid and that he’s a fan of Dong-ju and Han-na’s romance, lol. I hope we get to know more of his backstory and his journey from being an Olympic medalist to police officer. And lastly, I was afraid that Dong-ju and Ju-yeong’s threats to each other would get old. How many more times was Dong-ju going to meet up with Ju-yeong and threaten him? I was afraid things would get a little too redundant which was why I sort of enjoyed what happened at the end of episode 4. Did I necessarily agree with Dong-ju’s decision to jump down from the building and onto Ju-yeong’s car? No, not really. Especially when his teammates were there and would have stopped Ju-yeong. But at the same time, I get why Dong-ju did what he did and I thought his decision was consistent with his characterization. All along, we were shown how tenacious and determined Dong-ju was. This is just who he is and this is especially how he is when he’s going up against Ju-yeong. He really wanted to get after Ju-yeong so I could see why he made the rash, reckless, and spontaneous decision to just jump down from the building. He’s wild and crazy and incredibly passionate. He loves taking risks and doing things in the moment even if it’s not the most brilliant choice. He has or knows no limits and does what he wants to do right at that moment. He’s someone full of adrenaline and his chase after Ju-yeong was evidence of that. Dong-ju really just does go all out.

I really just loved seeing our team go out into the field and work together to chase after Ju-yeong. They needed evidence that he was the one who drove the foreign vehicle so they dug up some dirt and information to find the vehicle. As the team continued their investigation, they learned that there was a whole system and organization behind Ju-yeong, Golden Bunny, Gyeong-il’s death, as well as the death of the custom officer, Lee Jin-su. Ju-yeong isn’t working alone and there’s going to be a whole lot more that our team uncovers and discovers along the way. Even Han-na’s father’s death may have some type of correlation to everything that’s going on. You never really know what the team is going to encounter next and who else they’re going to fight and what kind of adventures they’re going to embark on. But there is one thing that’s guaranteed during the process: there’s bound to be a whole lot of chaos and craziness.
